Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City ‘opened up a can of whup-ass’ on San Francisco last weekend by putting 35 points on the board in the first half en route to a 38-27 win that helped them move to 3-0 on the season.
Second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes continued his jaw-dropping play by passing for 314 yards with three TD passes and no interceptions to set a new NFL record with 13 TD passes in the first three games. The Chiefs are ranked first in scoring by averaging a stupendous 39.3 points per game so far and they’ve played Over the total in all three of their contests this season.
“We’ve got a bunch of weapons,” said Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, who added his first two touchdown runs this season, “and Pat is just a competitor. I knew that from the day we met when we got drafted together. We said one day we were going to take over the Chiefs Kingdom.”
Denver Broncos
Veteran quarterback Case Keenum looks like he’s reverted back to the mediocre signal-caller he was prior to his career year with Minnesota last season.
Keenum was uninspiring in passing for just 192 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. Keenum was sacked three times and finished with a pitiful 29.3 quarterback rating. After tossing just seven picks a year ago for Minnesota, Keenum has tossed five interceptions already against just three TD passes.
“That wasn’t the game we had intended for,” star linebacker Von Miller said. “At times, we couldn’t get off the field as a defense.”
Expert Pick and Prediction
The Chiefs may be putting points on the board like they’re going out of style, but Denver isn’t nearly as explosive offensively, especially the way that Case Keenum is playing. Still, I think the Over 55 points is the way to go in this contest.
The Over is 4-0 in Kansas City’s last 4 road games and 4-1 in the Chiefs last 5 games overall. The Over is also 4-0 in Denver’s last four games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 in the Broncos’ last 7 Monday night games. Last but not least, the Over is a nearly unblemished 5-0-1 in the last six meetings between these longtime division rivals. Kansas City wins while the Over plays out!
