Pittsburgh is on fire, having won five straight games including their statement-making 52-21 smackdown of Carolina on Thursday night. Ben Roethlisberger passed for 328 yards with five TD passes and no interceptions while running back James Conner rushed for 65 yards and one score on 13 carries. The Steelers scored at least one touchdown in every quarter while Vince Williams had a 17-yard pick-six against Cam Newton in the win.
Jacksonville is a complete and utter mess right now, having lost five straight games including their narrow 29-26 road loss at Indianapolis on Sunday. Blake Bortles passed for 320 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and Leonard Fournette returned to rush for 53 yards and one score on 24 carries, but it wasn’t enough as Andrew Luck tossed three TD passes for the Colts and Indy held on after going into the half 29-16.
For this Week 11 matchup, I believe the Pittsburgh Steelers are a virtual lock to get the win and ATS cover to exact some revenge for the pair of stunning losses they suffered against Jacksonville last season including their 45-42 loss to the Jags in the divisional round of last season’s playoffs.
Pittsburgh is ranked fourth in scoring (31.0 ppg) and 13th in points allowed (23.2 ppg) while Jacksonville is ranked 29th in scoring (17.8 ppg) and 10th in points allowed (22.1 ppg). The Steelers are a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win, an even more impressive 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games.
On the flip side of the coin, Jacksonville has gone 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games against their AFC counterparts, 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games following an SU or ATS loss and 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
The Steelers are looking more and more like a legitimate Super Bowl contender while football fans and betting enthusiasts everywhere are wondering where it all went wrong for a Jags team that was expected to contend for the AFC Championship at the very least this season. Washington picked up a convincing 16-3 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday as Alex Smith passed for a modest 178 yards and Adrian Peterson added 68 rushing yards on 19 carries. Washington’s defense shut down Tampa Bay while picking off veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick twice in the win and forcing him to cough up one fumble.
Houston had a bye this past weekend, so they’ll be well-rested for their Week 11 matchup in the nation’s capitol. More importantly, Houston is playing some excellent football, having won six straight games following their difficult 0-3 start. The Texans got past Denver 19-17 two weeks ago to cash in as a 1-point underdog at Mile High Stadium.
Despite being on the road, the Texans are favored and I believe rightfully so. Houston has held four of their last five opponents to 17 points or less, they’ve recorded two of their last six wins in overtime to show they can win in difficult situations and the Texans have split their last six wins evenly by bagging three at home and three on the road.
Both teams in this contest have top 10 defenses, but Houston has far more explosiveness on the offensive side of the ball with Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins, the recently signed Demaryius Thomas and Lamar Miller than Washington does with basically Alex Smith and Adrian Peterson.
The Texans are a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a bye week and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games in the month of November while the Redskins have gone 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games following an ATS win, 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games following a straight up win and just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games against a team with a winning road record. Washington’s lack of offense will be the reason they lose at home and fail to cover the chalk!

Yes, Cam Newton and the Panthers got completely manhandled in their ugly 52-21 loss against Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, but Detroit has looked like a team that has no identity in suffering three straight convincing losses including their 34-22 road loss at Chicago on Sunday. Right now, I believe Carolina’s Week 10 loss to Pittsburgh will give Newton and company all the motivation they need in order to get back on track against a Lions team that has been limited to 14 points or less in two of their last three games while allowing 28 points or more in two games.
The Lions are giving up almost five points per game more than the average this season and that doesn’t mean a lot of wins against any team that is competent at the very least. Carolina ranks second in rushing and 10th in scoring (26.8 ppg) and the Panthers have a lot to play for as they look to improve on their encouraging 6-3 record and cement a playoff berth moving forward. The Lions are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games against a team with a winning road record and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games in the month of November. Carolina has gone 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games following an SU win and 5-1 ATS in their last six games in the month of November. The Panthers have won six of the last seven meetings against the Lions and Carolina is simply the better team in all three phases.
