Tennessee Titans (3-3)
The Titans have lost two straight. The Titans lost to Buffalo 13-12 two weeks in a game that played well under the 38.5-point total and then Tennessee followed that up with an even more discouraging 21-0 shutout loss at home against Baltimore in a game that played under the 43.5-point total. Tennessee gave up a whopping 11 sacks in the loss while getting shutout at home for the first time since moving into Nissan Stadium in 1999.
“We all can do better. We can throw it better, we can run it better — and coach better,” first-year head coach Mike Vrabel said. “That’s the headline. The Tennessee Titans didn’t do nearly enough on all levels to win the football game or even make it competitive.”
Marcus Mariota was limited to 10 of 15 passing for 117 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions when he wasn’t almost literally running for his life. Tennessee was held to a pitiful 55 rushing yards in the loss.
Los Angeles Chargers (4-2)
The Chargers have won three consecutive games including their 38-14 annihilation of Cleveland on Sunday in a game that finished Over the 47-point total. Melvin Gordon scored three times and Philip Rivers added two passing touchdowns in the win.
“I get a lot of juice when he’s the running the ball like that,” Chargers guard Dan Feeney said. “He was out there making people miss, running through people. Phil even threw a couple blocks out there.”
The Chargers sacked Cleveland’s Baker Mayfield five times while picking off the rookie signal-caller twice to move to 3-1 O/U over their last four games.
Expert Pick and Prediction
For this Week 7 matchup, I like the Chargers to get the outright win and ATS cover simply because the Titans are struggling so much on offense and the Bolts are starting to heat up defensively. More importantly, I’m going to advise Over//Under Total bettors to play the Under in this contest because of the combination of the two aforementioned facts.
Tennessee is a complete and utter mess right now under first-time head coach Mike Vrabel. The Titans have played under the total in each of their last four games against their AFC counterparts while the Under is 11-4 in L.A.’s last 15 games against their AFC counterparts. The Under is 4-1 in Tennessee’s last 5 games overall and an identical 4-1 in the Titans’ last five games following a straight up loss of more than 14 points. The Under is also 4-1 in the Chargers last 5 games in October and 9-3-1 in their last 13 games following a straight up win. Tennessee has been held to 12 points or less in three of their last four games and that’s just not going to cut it against a Chargers team that has an excellent defense.
Predicted Score: Chargers 28 Titans 14
