Chicago has won four straight including their statement-making 25-20 win over Minnesota on Sunday night as a 2.5-point home favorite. Superstar linebacker Khalil Mack had a sack and fumble recovery and Eddie Jackson returned an interception for a pick-six as the Bears gave up just three points through three dominating quarters.
“You’ve got to understand the situation, facing a division opponent, knowing we’re going to face them twice a year,” Mack said. “We’ve got to make that jump and you (saw) it today. It’s knowing what’s at stake. Everybody showed up ready to play.”
Detroit Lions
Detroit managed to snap a three-game losing streak by upsetting Carolina 20-19 to cash in as a 4-point home underdog on Sunday. Matt Stafford passed for 220 yards and one touchdown while running back Kerryon Johnson rushed for 87 yards and another score on 15 carries. The Lions avoided defeat when Carolina’s Cam Newton threw an incomplete pass on a two-point conversion try with just over a minute remaining.
Expert Pick and Prediction
For this Week 12 NFC North divisional battle, I’m going to advise you to back the streaking Bears to get the win and ATS cover despite being on the road. Chicago averages 7.2 points per game more than Detroit (22.2 ppg) while also giving up 6.8 fewer points per contest than Detroit. The Bears smacked the Lions around in their 34-22 home win in Week 10 to cash in as a 2.5-point favorite and I believe they’re going to record another, nearly identical win this time around.
Chicago is a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last four games while Detroit has gone a polar opposite 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning road record. Chicago is 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings and I like them to improve on that mark by getting the big win on Thursday night.
