New York Jets

The Jets opened up a can of whup-ass on Detroit in their stunning 48-17 Week 1 win in their opener but they didn’t look anything like that explosive team in their humbling 20-12 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Strong-armed rookie quarterback Sam Darnold passed for 334 yards with one touchdown but he also tossed interceptions in the loss and was sacked three times. New York was held to just 42 rushing yards and was shut out in the first half.

Cleveland Browns

Cleveland is looking to finish after blowing a handful of opportunities to pick up a win in their 21-21 tie in Week 1 against Pittsburgh and their crushing 21-18 road loss to New Orleans on Sunday. Veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor went 22 for 30 for 246 yards with one touchdown and one interception while running back Carlos Hyde rushed 16 times for 43 yards and another score.
Unfortunately, kicker Zane Gonzalez missed a pair of field goals against New Orleans one week after having his game-winning attempt blocked against Pittsburgh.

Expert Pick and Prediction

As far as the 39-point total for this Week 3 matchup is concerned, I like the Overseeing as how both of these teams now have competent quarterbacks leading their offenses and defenses that are decent, but certainly not great. The Over is 7-2 in New York’s last nine games following a straight up loss and 16-5 in the Jets’ last 21 Week 3 games. The Over is also 5-0 in Cleveland’s last five Week 3 contests and 10-4 in the Browns’ last 14 games in the month of September. Again, for me, with Tyrod Taylor and Sam Darnold under center, I’m expecting both teams to reach the 20-point plateau in this one!

Pick: Over 39 Total Points.
